Girl Band 5th Nov 2019 Electric Ballroom

Supporting “The Talkies”, the follow-up to 2015’s “Holding Hands with Jamie”, tonight we’re seeing Girl Band – hailing from Dublin, Ireland – who are playing a couple of UK gigs only. We felt honoured to be able to see them tonight at the completely sold out and absolutely packed Electric Ballroom.

The band formed in 2011 and consist of Dara Kiely (vocals), Alan Duggan (guitar), Daniel Fox (bass) and Adam Faulkner (drums). In 2014 they signed to Rough Trade Records, which was around the time that we first saw them live. I think it’s about the 4th time we’ve seen them – and we have great confidence in stating they are consistently a band that delivers.

We really have no idea how to describe the music genre that Girl Band resides in.  Are they post-punk, are they experimental, are they noise-core. No, they are just Girl Band. Some would say that the drummer provides the most musical input behind the strong, unapologetic vocals, along with the slide-bass and abrupt percussive distorted guitar – their sound is indescribable. If you were to hear each element in isolation, it would sound nothing like the end product.

The gig was amazing, the crowd went mental doing circles and crowd surfing.

We loved it and thats it really.  Thank you for the music.

Set list:

Pears for Lunch Fucking Butter Lawman The Last Riddler Laggard Salmon of Knowledge Amygdela The Cha Cha Cha Shoulderblades Prefab Castle Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage? Going Norway Paul
